Or you want to brush up on Irish because of that red hair of yours...I've coached feature film, television, and Broadway actors for auditions as well as on set and am now available to coach you in Los Angeles -- or over Skype anywhere in the world.My forte is working quickly and with great joy, so my clients master each dialect with a sense of confidence and playfulness essential for acting the role.

philosophyI'm fascinated by the act of humans communicating with one another, on camera and off. I love listening to people's speech and appreciate that how we talk -- how we choose (consciously and unconsciously) to sound -- is deeply psychological. Kate teaches an outstanding physically-integrated approach to the IPA, passed down from Linklater et al, and I now teach it to my students, as well as clients when appropriate. I learned how to learn -- and teach -- dialects from the inimitable Thom Jones in grad school. Professionally, I assisted Stephen Gabis (Broadway dialect coach extraordinaire) shadowing on such projects as Coram Boy on Broadway, and quickly began voice & dialect coaching my own projects (subUrbia at Second Stage, Bad Jazz at the Play Co. and Shipwrecked! at Primary Stages are favorites). In 2009 I relocated to Los Angeles and have since been working privately with clients, actors and non, and coaching feature films, most recently Small Apartments working with the brilliant Matt Lucas. I'm on leave from Pace University, where I teach Dialects for the Stage to BFA students in Manhattan.
